TasteGetting a greens powder down without dreading it
The honest problem with greens powders is not the formula. It is
that a lot of people buy one, drink it in plain water on day one, and never
open the tub again.
Two things fix most of it. The first is what you mix it into: orange or
apple juice covers the vegetal edge far better than water, and a smoothie
covers it completely. The second is temperature. Cold liquid mutes flavour, so
a glass out of the fridge is easier than one from the tap.
Stir properly rather than swirling. Powder that has not dispersed collects
at the bottom and turns the last mouthful into the worst one, which is the
mouthful people remember.
RoutineWhere a scoop fits in a morning that already works
Anything that needs a decision gets skipped eventually. The scoop
survives when it is attached to something that already happens without
thinking.
The kettle is the usual anchor, because it involves standing still for two
minutes anyway. Breakfast works for people who eat it. What matters less is
which one you pick and more that it is the same one every day.
A tub is thirty servings, which makes it a rough calendar as well as a
container. A third gone is ten days in, and that is easier to judge at a glance
than counting backwards from a start date.
LabelWhy this site quotes no milligram figures
The Tonic Greens label organises its contents into six named groups and
lists the members of five of them. What it does not print is an amount for any
individual ingredient.
That leaves a choice. A site can say so, or it can fill the gap with a
figure that looks plausible. This one says so, on the homepage, on the
ingredients page and here.
The same applies to the sixth group. The prebiotic and probiotic mix is
named on the label without its strains, so no strains appear on this site. A
guessed strain name is worse than an acknowledged blank, because it looks like
information.
Nothing on this page is medical
advice. The full set of ingredient groups is on the homepage,
and three of them are covered at greater length on the
ingredients page.
